"Harsh" is a collaborative effort between us and Le Vide, which is happening every third thursday at The Rebar (1114 howell st). The aim of this series is to cross breed two already convergent styles of music: Harsh Noise and Break-Core, and all of their associated genres. The noise genre represents wide variety subgenres, one of which is called "Harsh Noise", the aim of many proveyeurs in this genre is to create an over whelming assault on the senses... This aim, to completely over stimulate, is also evident in the genre of Break-Core. Modern music in general has in recent years witnessed and overwhelming amount of interest from fans of these respective genres and with that, more artists that one way or another fit into one of These two genres. Each installation of Harsh will feature two acts of each of the respective genres. Combine that with rotating cast of resident DJS including: Android Heart, NoahNine, MCVD, Cathartec and Wm. F. Buckley, Jr .All with epilepsy fueled imagery provided by VJ Low Rez and you have a formula for energetic over saturation

Penetration Camp

Based in Puget Sound, Penetration Camp creates sonic sculptures utilizing homema de instrumentation as well as both conventional and non-conventional sound sources. The results range from sublime multi-layered soundscapes to ferocious audio assaults. Unlike many "noise" or "experimental" acts, Penetration Camp does not utilize laptops and eschews programming, not because such tactics are beneath them, but because both members are too stupid to deal with computers for anything other than viewing pornography . Instead, this duo improvise sets by drawing sounds out of self-made and modified devices as well as using samples and other audio sources to fill out their performances. Musical influences range from pop and punk to harsh-noise and drone, and Penetration Camp's output fluctuates accordingly. Penetration Camp's live sound tends toward the harsher side of noise, but instead of issuing an abrasive set of 10 minutes of white noise, the band creates full and varied sets of everything from sound collages to ritualistic death-industrial The band has four full-length albums as well as assorted compilation and other releases.

Logic Probe

Derek and Dave got their start using beat-up records, yard sale keyboards, effects pedals, and anything else that could make noise. Over time, their equipment has steadily evolved from samplers and keyboards to laptop computers yet their offbeat musical vision has remained intact, never shying away from unexplored territory. Logic Probe has completed soundtrack work for several independent films, self-produced three full-length albums, remixed songs for bands such as Botch, Waxwing, and Obelus, and has played shows where ever they were allowed. Logic Probe also performed at the 2006 Decibel Festival, where they shared the stage with Telefon Tel Aviv, Lusine, Apparat and Alex Smoke.

Fetal Distress

: Fetal Distress is Trevor Harmon. Hearing the music he makes is like listening to a musical suction abortion. A bloody mass of limbs and organs, drums and synths, peppered with often violent and humorous vocal samples swirl about in the disposal container between your ears. He holds a mirror inches from your face reflecting the ugly nature of every day society, politics, and the beast in us all. Fetal Distress has arrived bearing, with a smile, the timeless gift of trauma in the form of epileptic breakbeats with paranoid schizophrenia and bass thicker than the president's skull. Today's pig is tomorrow's bacon.

Honed Bastion (side project of Dead/Bird) :

Honed Bastion is the solo noise/sound project of Portland, OR artist Nicholas Bittakis, who is also in Dead/Bird . Bittakis uses sources from electronic refuse to junk metal, heavily processing signals, creating slow digital creeps to organic savagery.

Febuary 15th featuring:

KJ Sawka "KJ Sawka has often been described as a human drum machine and with the current trends in our electronic evolution this artist may not be a surprise, but he is still quite an i nspiration. I recently saw him "live" in Seattle for the third time. I couldn't help but notice the amount of praise he receives at every show. Even a bouncer working at the Last Supper Club explained his enthusiasm and thanked Sawka for performing on a Thursday, for free at the downtown Seattle venue".

NAHA: "In her ten years behind the decks, NAHA has crafted her mixing style and technique which is as diverse as the genres she spins, including techno, breakbeats, digital hardcore, hip-hop, and jungle. She has found anamalgamation of these sounds in her specialty, breakcore. She has played all across the U.S., including Washington, Oregon, California, Idaho, Montana, Oklahoma, Florida, New York, New Mexico, Arizona, Washington D.C., and multiple cities in Canada. In Seattle she has held dozens of residencies, hosted on air and online radio shows and performed with bands Exorcismo and Black Pill Book. Her 3 hour weekly internet radio broadcast on Groovetech.com ran every week from December 1998 through 2003."

Plethora : Plethora is Stan Reed, (PsychForm Records, Broken Penis Orchestra, and Blue Sabbath Black Cheer). An absurd nihilistic surrealist sound project whose mission is to trick the brain into thinking it is on heavy drugs.

Ear Venom : Ear Venom is based in Seattle. They're active participants in the underground noise/ experimental scene, organizing and playing shows with needed regularity - more than witnesses, Ear Venom are a part of the backbone of the Seattle experimental music arts. As a performance duo, preferring to play mostly in caves and abandoned ship yards, these two individuals have been working closely together to express themselves as a singular sound event. The eyes play tricks on you as the hallucinatory effects of the venom gathers strength, what is two is one, one is two. As well, the sounds play tricks on you and the poisonous duality of their audio movements both savage and cleanse the mind. With vocal manipulation, repetition, homemade and altered/abused instruments, feedback, complaints from the neighbors, and other effects all used as a means to process their combined ephemeral emotions, Ear Venom stand as their name implies.- -William, BSBC..
